Q1: Do you think you are an independent person?
High Band Yes, I consider myself an independent person now. I do my own chores and take care of myself well. I’ve recently obtained my driver’s license. This enables me to go where I like without waiting for my parents to drive. It’s liberating.
Q2: Do you think it is important to be independent?
High Band Yes, I think that it is extremely crucial to learn to be independent. Parents should teach their children as soon as possible to be independent. That way, they will not struggle with basic tasks and chores when they start living alone or if they travel abroad to study.
Q3: How did you learn to be independent?
High Band I finally learnt how to be independent when I had to go to college in a different province from where my parents live. I am currently renting a small place in an apartment near my campus. Every day, I have to handle all the house chores and daily tasks myself, such as cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, and buying groceries.
Q4: How does being independent affect your life?
High Band I think that being independent is an excellent virtue to have in life. I don’t have to rely on other people to help me with everyday tasks and chores. Since I am living alone now, I know how to look after my place, my health, and my well-being without requiring much help from my parents.
