Paragraph 1: The Purpose and Platforms of Advertising
A yearly goal of most businesses is to gain more clients. To achieve this, many companies advertise so that the general public knows about them and what they offer. Many big corporations advertise on mainstream media, creating commercials for TV and radio or making print ads in magazines and newspapers. Television adverts are still considered the more effective form, but the cost is expensive, especially if the ad is broadcasted nationally. Because of technology, many other businesses have resorted to advertising online, which is significantly cheaper and reaches a large audience.
Paragraph 2: Negative Reactions and Environmental Impact
Although adverts are helpful to companies, the general public has mixed reactions to them. Many find ads irritating because they interrupt what a person is watching. Some are annoying because of the jingle played or the acting; whereas other ads are misleading as they exaggerate the benefits of the company’s products. Furthermore, many blame advertisers for the extra trash in their locality, as billboards and posters often end up in trash bins once the promotion is over.
Paragraph 3: The Positive Side of Advertising
But on the positive side, some ads are enjoyable to watch, particularly those that are funny or have a good message. Some adverts are deemed helpful because they fulfil their purpose of informing the public about products they may need. Lots of people have bought something useful because of such ads, and many satisfied customers look forward to the next advertising campaign. Therefore, whether we love them or hate them, it seems ads are here to stay.
