The charts in percentage terms, five fuel sources used to produce energy in the USA in 1980 and 1990.
Overall, oil was the resource used for energy production in both years. There was relatively little change in the proportions of the other fuel sources used in 1980 and 1990.
In 1980, 42% of energy produced in the USA came from oil, but this then to 33% in 1990. The figures for natural gas, in contrast, remained almost at 26% of total energy production in 1980 and 25% in 1990.
There was, however, a significant in the proportion of coal used as an energy source. From a figure of 22% in 1980, it then natural gas in 1990, with 27%.
While the figure for hydroelectric power remained at 5% of the total in both years, the percentage of nuclear power used to produce energy by 5% from the 1980 figure, to reach 10% in 1990.
Lưu ý ngữ pháp & Phương pháp (IELTS Writing Strategy)
– “Both” vs “Both two”: Tuyệt đối không dùng “both two”. Chỉ cần dùng “both years” hoặc “both sources”.
– Overtook: Vượt qua (thường dùng khi một hạng mục tăng lên và chiếm tỷ lệ cao hơn một hạng mục khác).
– Remained constant/stable: Duy trì ổn định, không thay đổi.
– In contrast: Cụm từ nối cực kỳ quan trọng để tạo sự đối lập giữa các xu hướng tăng và giảm.
