Mệnh Đề Quan Hệ (Relative Clauses) trong IELTS

1. Mệnh đề xác định (Defining Relative Clauses)

• Cách dùng: Cung cấp thông tin cần thiết về danh từ đứng trước, không có mệnh đề này câu sẽ không rõ nghĩa.
• Đại từ quan hệ: who, whom, which, that, whose
• Ví dụ:
  • The man who is talking to John is my uncle.
  • The book that you gave me is very interesting.
  • The girl whose mother is a teacher is my friend.

2. Mệnh đề không xác định (Non-defining Relative Clauses)

• Cách dùng: Cung cấp thông tin thêm về danh từ đứng trước, không cần thiết để hiểu nghĩa chính của câu. Thường được ngăn cách bằng dấu phẩy.
• Đại từ quan hệ: who, whom, which, whose
• Ví dụ:
  • My brother, who lives in New York, is a doctor.
  • The Eiffel Tower, which is located in Paris, is a famous landmark.
  • Mr. Smith, whose son is my classmate, is a lawyer.
