Bài 21: Weather
1. Từ vựng cốt lõi (Core Vocabulary)
Chủ đề Thời tiết (Weather) thường xoay quanh các tính từ miêu tả bầu không khí và hiện tượng tự nhiên. Dưới đây là những cụm từ “ăn điểm”:

Q1: What kind of weather do you like most?
Low Band (4.5 – 5.0) I like sunny weather. I can play outside with my friends. But if it rains, I like to sleep in my room.
High Band (7.0+) It depends on what my activities are for the day. If I have scheduled outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, or going for a picnic for the day, then I would enjoy moderately sunny and breezy weather. However, if I plan on watching movies or taking a nap indoors, then rainy cold weather would add a good vibe to the experience.
Q2: Do you prefer dry weather or wet weather?
Low Band (4.5 – 5.0) I prefer dry weather because I can go out. Wet weather makes me wet and I cannot play sports.
High Band (7.0+) Once again, this depends on what I plan to do for the day. In general, going to the beach or an outdoor theme park would be more enjoyable with dry weather. Of course, if the weather is too hot, then that would ruin the experience as well. When I am indoors, the weather does not affect my plan much.
Q3: What kind of weather is typical in your hometown?
Low Band (4.5 – 5.0) It is very hot in my hometown. Sometimes it rains a lot. In winter, it is cold and windy.
High Band (7.0+) In most cases, it is generally sunny and bright, but during winter, the weather can become chilly and windy. During summer, it can get extremely hot and dry. On the flip side, heavy downpours and strong winds are more common during winter.
Q4: What’s your favourite season?
Low Band (4.5 – 5.0) I like spring. The weather is very nice. It is not too hot and not too cold, so I can go out easily.
High Band (7.0+) My favourite season is either autumn or spring as the weather during these times is delightful. It is neither too hot nor too cold, and hence, outdoor activities or being outside in general becomes a more pleasant and enjoyable experience.
3. Giải thích Từ vựng & Cấu trúc câu (Key Phrases & Structures)
- Heavy downpours (Cụm danh từ): Trận mưa rào lớn, mưa như trút nước. Cách dùng từ này tượng hình và học thuật hơn rất nhiều so với “heavy rain”.
- Breezy (Tính từ): Có gió hiu hiu, gió nhẹ mát mẻ.
- Add a good vibe (Cụm từ): Mang lại một luồng sinh khí tốt, một bầu không khí dễ chịu và phù hợp với hoàn cảnh.
💡 Các cấu trúc câu ăn điểm (Nên áp dụng khi thi):
- “If I have scheduled [hoạt động] for the day, then I would enjoy [tính từ] weather.”
(Nếu tôi đã lên lịch… cho ngày hôm đó, thì tôi sẽ thích thời tiết…) - “However, if I plan on [V-ing] then [tính từ] weather would [tác động].”
(Tuy nhiên, nếu tôi định… thì thời tiết… sẽ…) - “In general, [hoạt động] would be more enjoyable with [tính từ] weather.”
(Nhìn chung,… sẽ thú vị hơn với thời tiết…) - “My favourite season is [mùa] as the weather during these times is [tính từ].”
(Mùa yêu thích của tôi là… vì thời tiết trong những khoảng thời gian này vô cùng…)
4. Bài tập thực hành (Practice Exercise)
Chọn từ/cụm từ phù hợp nhất điền vào chỗ trống:
