Topic: The Purpose of University Education

Đề bài: Some people think that the main purpose of university education is to prepare students for the workforce. Others, however, believe that university education has a broader societal role. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

In today’s society, the purpose of university1 is a highly debated topic. Some argue that higher education should focus only on job skills, while others think it has a broader role in our lives.

On the one hand, preparing for work is crucial. Many peoples2 go to college to get a good job. Because of the competitive job market, graduates need to have3 practical skills like coding or accounting. If universities teach practical things4, students can find work more easily and contribute to the economy after they finish school.

On the other hand, university is not just about making money. It is a place to develop critical thinking and learn about different cultures. Furthermore, subjects like philosophy, history, or literature will helps5 students become better citizens. Society needs well-rounded individuals, not just human machines.

In conclusion, although finding a job is a practical goal, I believe universities should balance vocational training with academic learning to build a better society.

“People” bản thân nó đã là danh từ số nhiều (của person). Việc thêm “s” vào “people” thường chỉ dùng khi nói về “các dân tộc”.

Cấu trúc “need to have” mang sắc thái văn nói (Spoken English). Nên dùng các động từ học thuật hơn.

Tuyệt đối hạn chế dùng từ “things” trong IELTS Writing vì nó quá mơ hồ và thiếu tính chuyên môn.

Một lỗi ngữ pháp sơ đẳng: Động từ đi sau động từ khuyết thiếu (will, can, should, must…) luôn phải ở dạng nguyên thể không chia (bare infinitive).

Lập luận đoạn 2 khá tốt về khía cạnh phát triển tư duy (better citizens, well-rounded individuals).

Cần cải thiện

Body 1 giải thích ý “tìm việc” còn hơi chung chung. Có thể bổ sung ví dụ thực tế (vd: các ngành công nghệ đang khát nhân lực).
Quan điểm cá nhân ở phần kết bài khá ngắn gọn, cần diễn đạt mạnh mẽ và bao quát hơn.

Lexical Resource (LR)

Sử dụng được một số từ vựng tốt như competitive job market, well-rounded individuals, critical thinking. Tuy nhiên, vẫn còn lạm dụng từ vựng ở cấp độ cơ bản (get a good job, teach practical things).

Gợi ý nâng cấp:

• get a good job → secure lucrative employment
• making money → financial gains

Grammatical Accuracy (GRA)

Có nỗ lực sử dụng câu điều kiện loại 1 (If universities…) và câu ghép (On the one hand…). Tuy nhiên, việc mắc lỗi chia động từ “will helps” hay danh từ “many peoples” sẽ giới hạn điểm ngữ pháp ở ngưỡng Band 5.5 – 6.0. Cần rà soát kỹ ở cuối giờ.
